Known for its harbour vistas and seafood, Doyles on the Beach has been a Sydney institution for years … in fact, the Doyle family have been trading seafood on the Watsons Bay site since 1885.
Today, the Doyle family are still operating the restaurant purveying their fresh catch. Most customers are reeled in to dining here, and relive their childhood memories of playing in the sand and eating at Doyles.
It is all about seafood and that is what they do best here. The menu does a fantastic job of educating customers on the fish varieties that are sold at the restaurant, detailing information on location and season. ‘Our own jumbo prawns’ is a must-have entree. The full-flavoured prawns are filled with bacon, sultanas, egg, spinach, leek and pine nuts, dressed in a beer batter that is the king of all beer batters, and then golden fried. A lemon wedge and a curry emulsion complete this tasty dish.
PSST! Watsons Bay can be reached by ferry and bus. Leave the car at home as parking is a challenge on weekends and sunny days.
