Owner/Chef Peter Boukouras maintains the high standard for his now well-established Italian restaurant with a menu that offers both the very traditional Italian classics and some more adventurous and creative dishes.
Cosi is an attractive venue offering two outdoor areas – on the streetfront and a cosy courtyard for the warmer Melbourne season – while inside there’s a hearty fireplace to keep warm in winter. The decor is classic Italian, and white table linen gives the place a classy feel. Wait staff are friendly and well skilled.
Ragu al seppie e trippa – strips of tripe in a tomato sugo with fregola (tiny pasta balls), topped with tender, fried cuttlefish – is an interesting and challenging combination that works surprisingly well. More traditional, tender duck breast, cooked rare, is highlighted with tart sour cherries, earthy beetroot puree and spelt grain, and garnished with elderflower. This is a beautifully presented dish with great flavours. Team it with vibrant, perfectly cooked broccolini tossed with garlic and olive oil.
PSST! Visit Cosi from Monday to Wednesday for a pleasant discount off your bill.
