Cookie has become an institution on the Melbourne bar and dining scene. Part beer hall, part cocktail lounge and part restaurant, Cookie offers fresh, modern Thai cuisine prepared by long-time Chef Karen Batson.
Busy and bustling, Cookie is not the place for a quiet catch-up. Instead, you’ll head up to the first floor and enjoy the buzz of people enjoying after-work drinks and a quirky, inviting place to get a tasty meal. To complement the comprehensive menu, there’s an impressive wine list and range of cocktails.
Pad Thai is a favourite: gluey rice noodles are richly flavoured and served with a mix of chopped peanuts, pickled turnip and garlic chives. The pork belly red curry is a treat. The rich curry sauce works well with the nicely crispy pork pieces, with green beans for a bit of crunch. For a bright, fresh addition to your meal, try the spicy cashew, tomato, cucumber and coriander salad. It’s a light side dish with an appealing mix of textures and flavours.
PSST! If you’re dining with two, ask for one of the few balcony tables overlooking bustling Swanston Street.
