The dynamic duo of Ben Milgate and Elvis Abrahanowicz of Porteño and Bodega 1904 fame have struck again, bringing a unique and well-received local establishment to Newtown. Head Chef Jesse Warkentin heads up the kitchen team at this deli, bar and bistro all rolled into one.
Attired in ‘60s rock ’n’ roll-cut jeans and tops, the wait staff purvey their charcuterie, cheese and tinned seafood in a carefree fashion, bopping away to the musical tunes.
The petite lunch menu makes full use of the deli goods. The cheese, tinned seafood and charcuterie are sourced from various nations. The three-cheese toastie is a decadent dish that oozes gooeyness between thick slices of white bread. The trio of cheeses (Montgomery cheddar from the United Kingdom, taleggio DOP from Italy, and Comté from France) all bring their funkiness to this ‘must have’, which is served with potato crisps and pickles. Sweet Cambados razor clams are served in their can, with the label removed and stuck on your plate for reference.
