Andrew McConnell is certainly a busy chef and restaurateur, as he oversees the kitchen at Supernormal, Cutler & Co., CUMULUS INC., CUMULUS UP. and Marion. At Builders Arms Hotel, he presents a solid menu of modern bar and bistro favourites created with flair. Built in 1853, the Builders Arms Hotel is the epitome of a stylish English pub. The interior oozes sophistication and atmosphere, and it is the perfect place for a catch-up with friends, a family outing or large-group dining.
The à la carte menu is inspired by European classics, with plenty of dishes to tempt the tastebuds. Whole rainbow trout is perfectly cooked so it is pink inside, and it is served with slivered almonds and a lip-smacking burnt butter sauce. The freshness of the fish comes to the fore thanks to Chef McConnell’s nimble handling of the additional ingredients. O’Connor 280g scotch fillet is simple but delicious. The well-cooked steak is accompanied by a variety of interesting condiments, including crunchy remoulade and wonderfully tangy mustard.
PSST! Save room for one of the decadent desserts here, such as dark chocolate and tangerine truffle or warm prune pudding, butterscotch and yoghurt.
