Giorgio Angele has been serving Italian treats at the original Brunetti site in Carlton for more than 25 years. With many of the family’s pasticerrias opening up across the city in the ensuing years, the new city restaurant is their most ambitious project yet.
Diners walk through a welcoming outdoor space down a marble corridor, and past shelves filled with delectable cakes and pastries. A bustling bar serves up coffees and glasses of wine with space to stay at the bar for a chat, or you can take your drinks to the many tables throughout.
The eggplant parmigiana sees half an eggplant smothered with cheese and spices – it goes so well with a generous serve of crispy French fries. PSST! Sweets can be ordered from the pasticerria. You can eat them straight away for dessert, or have them boxed up to take home or as a gift for someone special.
