Bistro Thierry has been reliably serving authentic French cuisine for years. To stay in tune with modern French cooking techniques, Head Chef Frederic Naud returns to his homeland regularly to keep abreast of trends.
The inside is a replica of a Parisian bistro, classically set with white tablecloths, beautiful glassware and French waiters with thick accents welcoming you into their gorgeous quaint abode.
You could start with the classic French onion soup with a cheesy gruyère crouton or perhaps the pan-seared scallops with braised fennel under an emulsion of smoked almond froth will tempt? Plats principaux (mains) include great French favourites such as bouef à la bourguignonne en croute – beef braised in red wine, onions and mushrooms with puff pastry and mashed potato. Classic le steak frites – 250gm of grass-fed eye fillet, and arguably one of the best steaks in Melbourne – comes with your choice of bearnaise, red wine and shallot, mushroom or pepper sauce and a serve of fries.
PSST! Check out the excellent prix-fixe lunch menu of two courses and a glass of wine for $39.50.
