Owner/chef Alfredo La Spina takes you on a journey to Sicily. Influenced by the traditional cuisine of his motherland, Chef La Spina has developed a simple menu that showcases authentic Italian cooking. Located in a heritage-listed building, Bar Idda is charming and rustic. Embroidered tablecloths are covered with plastic, ceramic water jugs have been hand painted, and herbs and garlic hang from the ceiling.
Italians love this place, as the food is just like nonna used to make. Mulinciani comprises eggplant layered with house-made tomato puree and buffalo mozzarella, with cheese melted on the top. Creamy and tart flavours are beautifully balanced in this dish. Tagliata di manzo is a tender scotch fillet cooked over the fucularu (charcoal barbecue), which gives the meat a sensational smoky flavour. It is served with a mix of bitter green vegetables seasoned with herby oil.
PSST! Bar Idda has a private dining room upstairs, which is perfect for hosting any event with Sicilian style.
