Having started at Balthazar as a second-year apprentice, Skye Faithfull has done a full 360 in the past ten years and has now returned as Head Chef at the restaurant, where she has created a classic European-influenced menu.
Located on the ground floor of the Art Deco ‘Lawson’ apartments, the restaurant is more bistro style than fine diner. Balthazar boasts one of the city’s most unique wine lists, with small-batch wines selected for the restaurant being affordable and exceptional quality.
The menu is simple and delivers in abundance! From the more substantial offerings, pork cheek, zucchini flower, broad beans and okra is a beautiful combination of robust flavours enabling the pork to shine. Okra proves a great complement to the succulent pork. Market fish with fresh peas and smoked potato is yet another dish that successfully highlights the use of lovely fresh produce. Team your main course with a tempting side dish, such as mixed leaves, yuzu and pickled shallots.
PSST! Check out the great-value lunch offer – three courses and a glass of wine for just $50!
