Head Chef Daniel Mulligan (ex-Pilu) brings a slice of Italy and Sardinia to Rozelle. Ajò is situated in The Welcome Hotel, one of Sydney oldest pubs, which dates back to the late 1800s. The friendly atmosphere and vibrant homely feel make this the perfect setting for lunch or dinner.
The menu is based on the freshest seasonal produce with a distinct Sardinian theme. The marinated sardine fillets with shaved fennel, celery, capers, parsley and blood orange sauce is fresh and flavoursome. Zucchini fritti with pear, gorgonzola and honey is light and crispy and sets the tone for the main course. For an Australian classic with a European twist, try the leg and backstrap of lamb with parsnip puree, roast pumpkin and salsa verde. And, of course, no Italian menu would be complete without pasta dishes and there are several to choose from at Ajó.
PSST! To finish, there are some classic Italian desserts, including traditional tiramisu and house-made cannoli.
