Colin Fassnidge – long-time friend and mentor – will join Murat Ovaz in the kitchen to celebrate two years in operation
Marrying superb produce and Middle Eastern influences, Colin Fassnidge will join long-standing friend Murat Ovaz in his Toorak Road restaurant on Wednesday, 9 October to mark Yagiz’s second year in operation.
A five-course feast will delight guests, showcasing Ovaz’s signature cooking style, all while demonstrating the evolution of the venue since its inception and, for just one night, adopting Fassnidge’s creative flair.
The pair will plate up nostalgic flavours, drawing from their time cooking together at Fassnidge’s Four In Hand, accented by contemporary techniques and flavours of modern Turkey.
A selection of matched wines from a list created by consultant sommelier Christian Maier will pair with the menu, highlighting a range of lesser-known Turkish wines as well as smaller Australian and European producers.
Guests are invited to raise a glass for the restaurant’s second birthday and experience Ovaz’s interpretation of traditional Turkish fare created to honour his culinary foundations while embracing modern cuisine and the multicultural influences that come with it.
Fassnidge will be returning to Yagiz after two years, having celebrated its opening night with Ovaz in 2017.
