One of the Hunter Valley’s most picturesque boutique vineyards is offering visitors the opportunity to soak up the ‘Briar Ridge Magic’ and enjoy an exclusive private tasting experience like no other.
Situated in the stunning Mount View region, there’s something incredibly special about Briar Ridge, with its stunning vineyard; relaxed, friendly atmosphere; and award-winning wines.
Located off the beaten track, it’s here wine enthusiasts can take in the lush, vibrant landscape, bursting with endless farmland, terraced vineyards and spectacular views across the valley – the perfect place for indulging in a special experience to be treasured forever.
Visitors will be treated to a private tasting in a mystery vineyard location, where they will be greeted with a glass of Briar Ridge Signature Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir. Next up is a vineyard tour, followed by a delicious cheese and antipasto platter, featuring local cheeses, fresh produce and condiments from local providores accompanied by a Single Vineyard Wine Tasting of current and museum release boutique wines, made from vines grown on the Estate.
These private tastings are hosted by a dedicated and experienced Briar Ridge team member who will talk all things wine, from viticulture through to the winemaking processes, answering any questions and providing the warm hospitality the vineyard is so famed for. Recognised in 2018 by reputable industry representatives as the ‘Best Tasting Experience in the Hunter Valley’, Briar Ridge is a must-do for any gourmand keen to experience the heart of the Hunter Valley’s incredible winemaking industry.
The vineyard is renowned for its boutique wines, which span the spectrum of Hunter Valley classics – Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz – as well as some alternate varieties, such as Tempranillo, Albariño, Shiraz Verduzzo and Fiano. With, one of the industry’s best young winemaking talents at the helm, there’s lots to savour!
A Hunter Valley local, Alex Beckett joined Briar Ridge as an Assistant Winemaker in 2016. Recognised as one of the industries up and coming talents, Alex’s passion for wine began while working part-time in Hunter cellar doors and wineries. Alex went on to study Viticulture and Wine Science at the University of Adelaide, during which time he was awarded the prestigious Sydney Royal Wine Scholarship.
A talented young winemaker, Alex’s dedication and enthusiasm saw him promoted to the role of Winemaker in 2018, and he is responsible for Briar Ridge’s unique portfolio of Hunter classic wines and alternate varieties. He says it’s an absolute honour to be afforded the opportunity of creating a selection of Hunter classics and alternate varieties at Briar Ridge.
‘The fruit off our Mount View vineyards is really unique and some of the best in the Valley and I love making wines that showcase this uniqueness,’ Alex says. ‘Where our vineyard is situated gives us slightly higher rainfall and lower temperatures and it means our wines carry a bit more of that softness on the palate, lifted floral and spice. Seeing our members and customers enjoy the wines we create is the best reward and our private tasting experiences are the ultimate.’
