Sarti closes – new venue coming soon to 6 Russell Place

After 13 wonderful years, Italian CBD institution Sarti Restaurant has closed, making way for a brand new concept at 6 Russell Place.

“The waiter is taking off his tie. We're rolling up our sleeves and working with Chris Connell and his talented design team again to create a younger, more playful concept, jumping a step ahead of the continually evolving Melbourne hospitality scene,” says Joe Mammone, co-owner of Sarti and a thriving stable of venues including Bar CarolinaIl Bacaro, newly launched Tetto and the soon-to-come Cantina Carolina.

Mammone and partners Michael Badr and Marco Tenuta – the team behind Sarti, Il Bacaro, Bar Carolina and Cantina Carolina – will reinvigorate the iconic laneway site, bringing Melbourne another next-level Italian dining experience.

“It won’t be Sarti as you know it – expect a big, new dedicated bar space with an extensive drinks offering, and relaxed, intimate dining in the restaurant area,” says Mammone.

“We love the all-day dining experience and sense of community that’s been created in South Yarra at Bar Carolina, and wanted to bring a piece of that back to the city.”

The new venue is due to open in summer 2019 after a full refurbishment.
