Following the success of last year’s winter ‘Soup Series’, Hanoi Hannah is welcoming a
fresh selection of experimental Vietnamese soups across its New Quarter and Vol.II
venues for a limited time, exploring beyond the much-loved pho.
Every Monday throughout August will see a new slurpy
creation unveiled at each restaurant for guests to enjoy for one week only,
showcasing Vietnam’s vibrant local cuisine and warming broths that are yet to
be celebrated in Melbourne. While steaming bowls of pho have become synonymous
with Vietnamese dining down under, Executive Chef Anthony Choi will introduce
Melburnians to an array of lesser-known authentic soups, transporting diners to
the bustling streets of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.
The series kicks off on Monday, 5 August with New Quarter in Richmond spotlighting the
Bun Rieu, a traditional Vietnamese soup featuring pork, crab and noodles in a
tomato broth, topped with a braised pork rib and mounds of morning glory.
Over in Elsternwick, Vol. II’s first offering will be the Bun Than,
a northern-style vermicelli noodle dish that sees shredded egg, chicken and
pork married with pickled mushrooms and topped with pops of crispy goodness.
Venturing into new territory each week, Hanoi Hannah’s Soup
Series is a hot reason to brave the cold for the remaining weeks of winter.
