Cancel your Sunday plans, Harry’s Bondi is opening up its kitchen to a ‘New Wave’ of Sydney chefs
For the first time, the iconic cafe is hosting weekly Sunday dinner sessions featuring menus created by young-gun chefs from Sydney’s most respected kitchens.
Every Sunday evening from 6pm, these chefs will be taking over Harry’s kitchen to serve up a curated selection of dishes showcasing the best of their talents.
Chefs so far confirmed for the sessions include:
• Alejandro Huerta, Executive Chef of Chica Bonita, kicked off the ‘New Wave’ chef sessions
on March 8th
• Simon Drolz-Cox from Cafe Paci, March 15th
• Hugh Piper, Head Chef of Dear Sainte Éloise, March 22nd
• Lewin White, Sous-Chef at Icebergs Bar and Dining Room, March 29th
• Kerby Craig, Head Chef of Ume Burger, April 5th
• Michael Lo Presti, Sous-Chef at Momofuku Seiōbo, April 19th
• Sarah Mycock, bar-takeover from Old Mates Place, April 26th
• Jack New, Sous-Chef at Teramoto (opening in March) with Prince of York, May 3rd
• Kenta Takeuchi, Sous-Chef at Cirrus, May 10th
The weekly menus will focus on a different concept and will feature a range of snacks and small sharing plates priced under $20. Diners can expect a wide-range of cuisines such as Japanese, Italian, Peruvian (just to name a few) and innovative variations on dishes such as Chica Bonita’s classic tacos (Alejandro Huerta), gold-leaf sushi (Jack New), Peruvian ocean trout ceviche (Hugh Piper) and Ume Burger signatures (Kerby Craig).
In collaboration with the chefs, Connor Sainsbury-Canham, from Whole Bunch Wines, will be creating a bespoke wine and cocktail list every week to match the new Sunday menu. Keeping with Harry’s tradition of sourcing local produce, the drinks will feature ingredients from Bondi and the eastern suburbs such as lemon myrtle from Blair Street Bondi and seaweed from North Bondi rocks (which Connor will be free-diving to source). Harry’s coffee and house-made almond–macadamia milk will also be used to make espresso martinis, Bondi style.
In a series highlight, the team from Prince of York will also be taking over the bar in collaboration with Jack New’s gold-themed Japanese/Australian extravagance menu (on May 3rd) providing champagne and cocktails galore.
Keep an eye out on Harry’s socials for which chef will be taking over Harry’s shores every week and lock in your Sunday session for a night of amazing food and drink paired with a beachside setting.
New Wave Chef Sessions at Harry’s will be running every Sunday night starting from March 8th from 6pm till late.
