Melbourne Cocktail Festival : Program update

Wednesday, 26 February to Sunday, 1 March

From 26 February–1 March 2020, the Melbourne Cocktail Festival (MCF) will treat cocktail experts and enthusiasts to a program of enlightening and entertaining activities, all centred around the art of the cocktail.


Below are additions and slight amendments to the Melbourne Cocktail Festival.

At Splash!, a host of distillers, makers and producers will showcase their various craft beverage products over one day. Ticket holders are invited to sample the offers from each producer and enjoy a specially developed punch made by each producer. All will be encouraged to vote for which producer’s punch packs the most … punch. The winner will enjoy bragging rights for the year.

When: Thursday, 27th February, 3pm–9pm

Where: The Craft & Co, 390 Smith Street, Collingwood VIC 3066

How much: $25 (includes unlimited tastings, snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments from CAPI)



Joining the likes of Sharon Flynn, Sandor Katz, Agostino Perrone, Monica Brown and Tyson Koh, the MCF Symposium has added a host of new speakers to their lineup for Day One of the Festival:

·      Alex Gilmour, Alex Dowd and Jeremy Blackmore from Sydney’s Cantina OK! will talk all things small bars and mescal.

·      Dervilla McGowan, one half of the team behind Anther Spirits will be speaking about native Australian ingredients and how they're contributing to their products from a sensory perspective.

·      Attica’s Head Sommelier Jane Lopes will give an honest and open talk about her unique experience with the Master Sommelier exam.

·      Paige Aubort will speak about her continuing quest to help women navigate and excel in the largely male-dominated bar industry.

*All speakers will participate in a Q&A session after their talk

Cutler & Co’s ‘Eat Your Drink’ 

Chefs have long been inspired by abundant local produce at the peak of the season. Eat Your Drink explores how ingredients at their finest inspire and inform the cocktail selection at the Cutler & Co. Bar. Hosted by the Cutler & Co. Head Bartenders, the afternoon will include four cocktails and snacks from the Cutler & Co. kitchen.

When: Saturday, 29th February 3:30–5:00pm

Where: Cutler & Co., 55–57 Gertrude St, Fitzroy VIC 3065

How much: $100 (includes tastings and snacks)

Fancy-Free Returns!

The boys from now-closed pop-up Fancy-Free are teaming up with Bacardi for their Breezer Block Party, held at Drinkwell, Fitzroy. Creating their own versions of a Bacardi Breezer, the boys will be putting together video installations, a DJ set and killer party, with Bar Liberty providing the snacks well into the evening.

When: Saturday, 29th February, afternoon until late.

Marionette’s Peachy Fete & Punch Party

Ÿ Peachy Fete: Head upstairs from Fitzroy's Rose Street market for fair games and to be the first to try Marionette's newest release. For a gold coin donation on the door, all are welcome to drop in and try Marionette’s Peach Tea Punch, Turbo Peach Bellinis, Peach Pie, Peachy Soft Serve, Pretzels and more.

Ÿ Punch Party: (A masterclass taking place during the Peachy Fete) Team Marionette will teach you how to whip up extraordinary punches for your next party with all Australian spirits & liqueurs. Learn and imbibe with Marionette's all-time favourite punch recipes, as well as a sneak-peek concoction from Nick and Shaun's soon to be released book Punch: Drinks to make Friends with.
