Happy Hour at home during COVID-19
As restrictions are put in place and recommendations are made re social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19, Melbourne’sis acting swiftly to offer home delivery services, revised venue capacity and a range of cocktail hampers to ease the transition into dining at home.
Bar Margaux, the group’s newest venue, will, for the first time, offer a range of French family-style meals, prepared fresh and sealed for Melburnians to stock up and cook at their convenience at home. The Margaux team will deliver straight to your door across metropolitan Melbourne. The ‘A la Maison’ menu will likely be available as early as next week, and include classic Margaux dishes such as soupe à l'oignon and beef bourguignon.
The Everleigh Bottling Co, already a staple of home entertaining, will introduce a range of hampers to liven up ‘Happy Hour at Home’, featuring signature single-serve bottled classic cocktails (Martini, Negroni, Manhattan, Old Fashioned), glassware, a copy of A Spot At The Bar (recipe book and more, written by Michael and Zara Madrusan), and venue gift vouchers.
Hamper deliveries will be stepped up for direct-to-door service in a range of inner Melbourne suburbs, enabling those missing their staple Friday night Everleigh Martini (intermittently dubbed the ‘Quarantini’), to recreate the whole experience at home, with all the trimmings including garnish and crystal clear block ice from Navy Strength Ice Co.
In addition, The Everleigh Bottling Co. are working on a special release of ‘medicinal’ cocktails that, if nothing else, lift the spirits in a time of doom and gloom. For the first time, the company will produce cocktails to go that utilise fresh citrus, made that day by The Everleigh bartenders and delivered to your door in larger format bottles, for parties of 2, 4 or 6. Drinks include the modern-classic Penicillin (scotch, fresh lemon, honey, spicy fresh ginger and peated whisky) and the Medicina Latina (tequila, fresh lime, fresh ginger, honey and mezcal).
Connie’s Pizza will also begin managing deliveries in house, making a variety of pizza styles and flavours available direct to your door, as well as in venue at Heartbreaker on Lonsdale St for anyone wishing to eat in or pick up.
All three venues – The Everleigh, Heartbreaker and Bar Margaux – have moved quickly to enhance hygiene practices, including only accepting contactless payments, reducing venue capacity to better allow for social distancing, and requesting for all patrons wash their hands on arrival.
Venue gift vouchers, hampers and food deliveries will all be available via madeintheshadegroup.com.au, and promoted across each venue’s social media. To stay up to date, follow Made in the Shade on Facebook and Instagram.
