Learn, taste and create at Noisy Ritual’s Vintage 2020 winemaking season

Popular urban winery Noisy Ritual is once again inviting wine-lovers to take part in a series of events for their Vintage 2020 winemaking season, kicking off from Friday 21 February.

Running for six weeks, the program offers collaborative events, hands-on workshops, tastings, tours and live music, alongside food offerings from the likes of Miznon, MoVida and The Social Food Project.

New for 2020, Noisy Ritual will also launch two special wines made from the best fruit of last season, to add to their existing range of premium wines.

Vintage is the most action-packed time of year for a winery, as fresh grapes arrive from all over the state to be stomped, fermented and pressed, and at Noisy Ritual guests are invited to celebrate Vintage 2020 and all the goodness that comes with it. While their intensive memberships are currently at capacity, there is a range of events and workshops for everyone to enjoy and have a hands-on experience. Kicking off with an opening night feast with Miznon and continuing with the likes of winemaking tours, a winemaking 101 workshop, Open House with MoVida, live music and a Harvest Dinner with The Social Food Project, there’s a plethora to experience. The full program includes:

OPENING NIGHT FEAST with MIZNON – $120, including all food and wine

21 February, 7pm

Equal parts community feast and performance art, a Miznon dinner is a feast for all the senses. Accompanied by the noisiest of wines and the annual Ritual Stomp to mark the official start of Vintage 2020.

SOCIAL FOOD PROJECT KITCHEN TAKEOVER

Running 26 February to 3 April on Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays, 6pm–9.30pm

Social Food Project will be running the kitchen throughout vintage – a social enterprise run by a talented group of chefs, out to make the world a more sustainable and connected place.

WINEMAKING TOURS – Tours are $20, which includes a drink on arrival (limited places)

26 February & 11 March, 6:30pm

A guided tour that walks guests through the winemaking process, including rolling up sleeves (and pants) to get more involved.

TASTINGS – free entry

Wednesday–Friday from 5pm

Every day there’ll be something new to try, depending on what’s happening in the winery.

VINTAGE WINEMAKING WORKSHOP – $110

4 March, 6.30pm–8.30pm

This year for the first time Noisy Ritual is offering a workshop that takes guests through the various steps of the winemaking process in a couple of hours. It’s perfect for those keen to get hands and feet dirty without the commitment of nine months like Winemaker Members. When the work is done, guests celebrate with a grazing platter, tasting flight and a bottle of wine to take home.

WINEMAKING MEMBERSHIPS (2021 vintage)

The intensive Winemaker Membership workshop runs over nine months, all the way from grape to glass. 2020 memberships are sold out, but 2021 will launch soon. Details and waiting list via noisyritual.com.au/winemaker

13 March, 7pm

Mid-March is the middle of grape-picking season. The Social Food Project chefs will create a delicious four-course shared feast using locally sourced seasonal produce, with a flood of Noisy Ritual wines to match.

LIVE MUSIC – free entry

18 March, doors 5pm, music from 8pm

Amongst the usual vintage mayhem of tanks, barrels and fermenting grapes bubbling away, a bunch of incredible people will be up on stage doing their thing. Brunswick Music Festival events include Ben Mason + Emma Russack and Lachlan Denton. More dates to be announced.

OPEN HOUSE with MOVIDA – free entry

29 March, 1pm

Noisy Ritual’s first ever Vintage Open House with MoVida cooking an incredible paella. Come see, smell, touch and taste the winemaking process in action.

CLOSING NIGHT PARTY – free entry

5 April, 3pm

Celebrate the final wine going into the barrel. Featuring drink specials, Social Food Project in the kitchen, plus live music and more to be announced.

Noisy Ritual was built on a philosophy of celebration and the theory that making and drinking wine should be relaxed, loud, inclusive and fun. Created by Cam Nicol and Alex Byrne, Noisy Ritual is a full-scale winery making quality wine in the city with grapes sourced from vineyards all over Victoria. Each year Noisy Ritual offers a unique opportunity for people to get their hands (and feet) dirty while participating in the winemaking process. It's a messy, fun, rowdy time when they throw the doors wide open to let as many people as possible experience the joy of making wine.
