Kitt Bennett reveals 100m-long rooftop artwork in celebration of Melbourne Cocktail Festival

A giant rooftop mural has been created by urban street artist Kitt Bennett as a tribute to the first-ever Melbourne Cocktail Festival (MCF)

Completed just in time for World Bartender Day (Monday 24th February), the MCF mural is over 100m long and depicts a bartender and martini glass ethereally floating over the city’s rooftops and streets. Kitt Bennett produced the work in 70 hours over 7 days using approximately 100L of paint, with colours referencing the festival’s logo.

Running from 26th February to 1st March, the Melbourne Cocktail Festival is a first-time multi-event celebration specifically dedicated to Melbourne’s thriving and dynamic cocktail scene. The 5-day grassroots event reflects the city’s creative energy and love of balancing excellence with informality.

Established by a young team of hospitality professionals from industry hub Worksmith, the MCF will incorporate numerous panel discussions, masterclasses and tasting opportunities aiming to celebrate Melbourne as one of the most exciting destinations in the world for innovative libations.

Kitt Bennett is one of Melbourne's most prominent and celebrated up-and-coming artists, specialising in illustration and large-scale murals on unconventional surfaces. Bennett’s most recent body of work consists of large ground paintings that can be seen from space. Playing with perspective and utilising new technologies is what drives Kitt to create his impressive works of art.

“Kitt’s artwork really speaks to the city and I particularly like how this one is hidden from view.  Some of Melbourne’s best bars are hidden down laneways or found in neighbourhoods outside of the city centre with little-to-no signage. Somehow it's the discovery that makes them even more exciting – same with Kitt’s work. What better way to celebrate the underground bar scene than with a rooftop artwork?” – Michael Bascetta, CEO of Worksmith.
