She’s generous (featuring a menu with over 60 dishes), stylish (with a stunning marble and timber fit-out) and accommodating (offering all-day brunch, lunch, dinner and desserts).
Sassy.x Restaurant & Bar is the latest project from restaurant entrepreneur, Ele Troise, who has over 30 years of experience in restaurant development, sales and consulting in Melbourne.
Owner Ele will be a jack-of-all-trades inside Sassy.x. He’s a trained chef, pastry chef and barista, as well as having managerial experience, and his expertise will lend itself well inside the kitchen and on the restaurant floor. Speaking of the kitchen, Sassy.x’s Head Chef is Trent Kerr whose 20 years in the industry have seen him work at the likes of The European, Pronto Cafe and Side Pocket. Bringing an Asian influence into the kitchen is Chef ‘Bruce’ Tshewang Gyeltshen and together, these three gents have created a pretty exciting and diverse menu.
So what’s on the menu? Not one that can be categorised under a single cuisine, Sassy.x’s menu is best described as European with an Asian influence.
“It’s not about one particular dish, it’s the number of dishes we’ve created that we’re really proud of,” says Ele.
You’ll find treats like coconut and rosewater tapioca pudding and roasted cauliflower and chickpea falafels on the brunch menu. Come nightfall, vegan beetroot pizza, blue swimmer crab sliders and pan-fried sweet potato gnocchi are on offer.
Sassy.x can be found underneath an apartment complex, in a corner block across from North Melbourne train station. Comfortably seating 96 patrons and spread across 350m2, patrons will dine with a fantastic view of Docklands and the Melbourne Star, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.
