G&M partners with De Beaurepaire Wines

Great wine offers for G&M followers

G&M Australia has teamed up with the De Beaurepaire Family from Rylstone, NSW to offer their wonderful wines to our network and friends and bring a little cheer to social distancing.

Over the past two years, G&M has partnered with De Beaurepaire Wines at several functions and has co-hosted a series of wine dinners with chefs around Australia.

De Beaurepaire Wines is a little family-owned and operated winery located at Rylstone (near Mudgee and Bathurst) in NSW. In 2018 they were awarded Australian Wine of the Year by Winestate Magazine (first time in 40 years this trophy has been won by a NSW producer). They make 15 different wines covering sparkling, white, rosé, red and sweet wine – so there literally is a wine for all occasions.

They are an on-premise-only winery, so the shutdown of hotels, restaurants, bars and now their cellar door due to COVID-19 has meant they are taking a devastating hit to their revenues and, being in the business they’re in, they cannot save costs by simply shutting down a vineyard or stopping winemaking.

The wines are delivered free to your doorstep all around Australia, with a 25% discount on orders of 12 bottles and over (10% discount on 6+ bottles). The winery does not sell via bottle shops, so please take advantage of this offer to stock up your personal cellar and support an Australian family boutique wine producer. Be sure to utilise the exclusive G&M codes when ordering. This offer ends on 31 May.

How to order:

Go to www.debeaurepairewines.com and order using their online shop. You can mix and match your order - sparkling, whites, rosés, reds and dessert wines.

De Beaurepaire Wines & Rylstone Estate

Founded in 1998 by Richard and Janet de Beaurepaire and now joined by their children Will and Amanda, de Beaurepaire Wines is a ‘terroir’ focused French-style wine producer from Rylstone within the Central Ranges (near Mudgee and Orange) of NSW. The family originates in Burgundy (with members of the extended family still living in the original family home dating back to 1200AD) and their extended Australian family has been producing wine in Australia since 1970 in the Yarra Valley in Victoria.

Richard and Janet decided to pioneer wine production Rylstone due to its similarity to the terroir of the Côte d’Or in Burgundy. It has an inland, very cool continental climate with temperatures similar to Central Otago and Tasmania. The shallow, well-drained sandy loam soils sit atop a near-surface limestone layer previously mined nearby by Kandos Cement to build the Harbour Bridge. In Burgundy, vineyards are only planted on limestone hence the dimensions of arguably the most famous (and expensive) wine region in the world, the Côte d’Or, are restricted to the near-surface limestone bedrock, which is 60km long by only 1.5km wide.

Their first vintage was 2003 but until 2016 the focus of the family was on building up the vineyard and understanding how best to work with the terroir before expanding wine production. The family now produces 15 different wines utilising a mixture of French and Australian techniques using only grapes grown on their sustainably farmed 53-hectare (130-acre) vineyard, and which can only be found at their cellar door or in great bars, restaurants and hotels. In 2018, they were awarded by Winestate Magazine ‘Best Australian Wine’ – a first for a NSW producer since the award inception 40 years ago – and Best Australian and New Zealand Dessert Wine.

The Rylstone Estate label is a special project of Will de Beaurepaire’s to explore and experiment still within the general French/Australian ethos of the family’s winery but across more adventurous styles and techniques.

The winery is partnered with Atout France (French Tourism) here in Australia who use their wines for their premier events, including with World #1 Chef Guy Savoy and is also partnered with the international restaurant review guide G&M here in Australia.
