As part of the Taste of Sydney Dining Experiences program, presented by Diners Club, Nelly Robinson has invited Simon Davies, the ex-Executive Chef of Chicago’s acclaimed Alinea restaurant, to join him at nel. Restaurant for one night only on Thursday, 20 February 2020.
Like Robinson, Davies believes that dining out is about creating an immersive experience, whether that be through the choice of music played during the meal, the theatrical presentation of the dish or the use of bespoke dining ware. With Robinson and Davies combining forces in the nel. Restaurant kitchen, diners can rest assured they will be in for a truly unique experience.
And this special dining experience will also benefit others. Nelly Robinson said: “In situations like we have in Australia right now, it’s important not only to remember those on the front line, but also to support those that the devastating effects of drought and fires impact long term. In the hospitality industry, these ties are strongly linked to our 10,000 farmers currently affected by the fires and their loss of land, livestock and produce”. This is why Nelly Robinson has decided to partner with Rural Aid to donate a portion of the proceeds from not only his current Australia-themed degustation menu but also from this special one-night-only event with Simon Davies.
Of this collaboration with Rural Aid, Davies says, “I am honoured to be travelling to Sydney to cook dinner alongside Nelly in order to raise funds for Rural Aid and relief for the current situation in Australia. To me it represents what is possible when people from around the world unite as a common community to make a difference”.
