El Camino Cantina opens at Westfield Miranda on Friday, 30 August
El Camino Cantina is bringing its legendary Tex-Mex menu, huge, frozen margaritas and sombrero-splashed party vibe to Westfield Miranda’s rooftop, where it opens for business on Friday, 30 August from 11am.
This eclectic, 280-seat cantina is ablaze with neon lights and fluorescent signage, including a festively lit, heated, 180-seat, outdoor terrace with panoramic views of Sydney – perfect for super-chilled, music-filled, sunset-soaked soirees.
Miranda locals, shoppers, movie-goers and die-hard Tex-Mex fans will be welcomed with a three-day fiesta delivering El Camino Cantina's spectacular, signature margaritas, chalices of beer, wine and tequila for $7.50 each, until close of business on Sunday, 1 September.
Family friendliness is the focus on Sunday, 1 September, or Father’s Day, with free face painting from 12pm to 3pm and a Kids Eat Free offer, allowing children under the age of 12 to score a free meal from the kids’ menu with a paying adult. A special, two-person Father’s Day feast ($39pp) is available and includes chicken wings, steak and chicken fajita to share, two tacos each, and a complimentary beer or margarita for dad. Father’s Day feasters will also score a limited-edition moustache sombrero!

Humming with trademark cool tunes that span rock ‘n’ roll, alternative, pop, dance, rap and R&B beats, El Camino Cantina offers a value-packed, crowd-pleasing menu and versatile events destination.
Unashamedly Tex-Mex (short for Texan-Mexican cuisine and distinct from authentic Mexican), El Camino Cantina’s menu includes house-made tortillas and complimentary, bottomless chips and vibrant salsas, which are served from restored Ford and Chevy trunks and are available all day.
Signature dishes include a selection of soft-shell tacos stuffed with seven flavour combinations, including mushrooms with chipotle coleslaw, yoghurt and scallions, and beer-battered barramundi doused with green mango salsa and jalapeño aioli.
Nachos are served with chilli con carne or vegetarian chilli, and a loaded version is topped with melted cheese, black beans, chilli con carne, smoked BBQ brisket, pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. Sizzling fajitas come with a choice of five fillings, including spiced adobo chicken, confit portobello, and hickory-smoked BBQ brisket, which is slow braised for six hours.
A trio of big-hitting burritos are stuffed with chipotle chicken, brisket and queso, or black bean and vegetables. A naked burrito, served from an iceberg lettuce bowl, bursts with avocado, salsa fresca, red cabbage, cucumber, onion, beans, corn, Mexican rice, cheddar cheese and tortilla chips. Add a protein boost with the inclusion of adobo-spiced chicken breast, Angus beef or prawns.
An all-occasion destination, El Camino Cantina’s daily deals include happy hour every weekday from 4pm to 6pm, $2 taco Tuesdays, 10-cent buffalo wings every Wednesday and half-price fajitas on Thursdays.
The quintessential Tex-Mex experience extends to the drinks menu, which heroes El Camino Cantina’s signature, machine-blended margaritas. A new, limited-edition ‘rita is unveiled each month. Beer lovers can cruise through a selection of Australian craft and flagship Mexican draught and bottled cervezas, and dozens of tequilas and mezcals are available.
El Camino Cantina features all the hallmarks of Texan meets Mexican interior design, including the signature, funky touches of Tex-Mex flair that adorn its sister restaurants in The Rocks and Manly. Walls are a visual feast of neon signage, bright artwork, bold rock posters and colourful calavera, which mix with accents of rustic Mexican haciendas, including weathered wood and reclaimed timbers, recycled bricks and breeze blocks, decorative tiles and ornamental touches.
The venue is flooded with festive lighting, feature walls and custom-designed artwork by Australian punk music and surf art icon Ben Brown, including a whole-of-wall piece featuring a Day of the Dead-style mariachi band and calacas, or skeletons.
Seating is a mix of El Camino Cantina’s signature, colourful, group-sized, high-topped tables and stools, as well as smaller seating arrangements and private booths – perfect for pairs of diners, small groups and large parties. Drinking ledges with bi-fold windows provide an outlook onto an awesome outdoor terrace with colourful, festoon lighting zigzagging overhead and a magical cityscape backdrop.
Rockpool Dining Group has created 45 full-time and casual positions at El Camino Cantina Miranda and has supported the local economy by engaging around 50 professionals and tradespeople on the project.
