Ciao Cielo celebrates iconic flavours of Northern Italy dinner with wine matching

Port Melbourne’s Italian institution Ciao Cielo invites diners to enjoy an elegant four-course menu, with matched wines that explore the iconic flavours which define the tastes of Northern Italy, on Thursday 18 July.

Ciao Cielo’s head chef Bryan Nelson will create dishes to pay homage to the gastronomic delights of Northern Italy. Each dish is matched with two wines, one from Italy and one from Australia, as well as a glass of Boxgrove Prosecco 2016 on arrival.

Guests can expect to indulge in Crudo kingfish with lemon; rhubarb and volcanic salt (pictured); Ox tongue with a pastrami crumb; grapes agrodolce and mustard fruit; Lamb shoulder with winter beans and Tuscan chicken fat potatoes, and Prosciutto gelato with a rockmelon sorbet and meringue.

Wine pairings include the likes of Prunotto Barbera from Alba, Italy, David Hook Central Ranges Barbera 2017 from Hunter Valley, NSW, Paulo Scavino Nebbiolo from Langhe, Italy, Signor Vino Nebbiolo 2016 from Adelaide Hills, SA, as well as dessert paired with Alasia Moscato D'Asti from Piedmont, Italy and All Saints Estate Moscato 2018 from Northern Victoria.

The dinner is in partnership with Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection and Selector Magazine and will present a multi-course culinary journey not to be missed.

Ciao Cielo started a new chapter in May 2018, moving to the old Port Melbourne courthouse. The beautiful historic setting features two spaces; one for the Ciao Cielo restaurant with a Bocce inspired lawn for al fresco garden dining, and the other for Ciao Cucina, a Mediterranean beer garden which provides a casual, Amalfi coast-inspired experience by day and a warm, party atmosphere by night.
