Port Melbourne’s Italian hotspot Ciao Cielo will team up with Braeside’s Boatrocker Brewery at this year’s Good Beer Week for a decadent beer and pizza experience. Ciao Cielo & Boatrocker Luxe will take place across four sessions from Saturday 11 May to Sunday 19 May.
This collaboration will see beers matched to each dish from the Italian seafood pizza inspired menu, created by head chef Bryan Nelson and head Pizzaiolo Carlo Notarnicola.
Diners will have a choice of four pizzas, plus a starter and dessert. Traditional techniques combined with a contemporary approach will result in delicious items such as spicy Italian XO pippies and SA Octopus, potato and salsa verde pizza (pictured). Boatrocker Brewery will present perfect pairings such as their Alpha Queen pale ale and their Boatrocker pilsner.
Ciao Cielo started a new chapter in May 2018, moving to the old Port Melbourne courthouse. The beautiful historic setting features two spaces; one for the Ciao Cielo restaurant with a Bocce inspired lawn for al fresco garden dining, and the other for Ciao Cucina, a Mediterranean beer garden which provides a casual, Amalfi coast-inspired experience by day and a warm, party atmosphere by night.
Boatrocker Brewery is a family-run microbrewery and distillery based in Melbourne’s Southeast. Founder and head brewer Matt Houghton‘s passion for good beer was sparked in his teenage days, when he was inspired by the television show ‘The Beer Hunter’. Home brewing, brew studies, gypsy brewing and commercial brewing has finally led him to achieving his dream of establishing Boatrocker, which is now one of the largest barrel ageing facilities in Australia.
Diners can take a culinary journey through the back streets of Naples to the Amalfi Coast on any of these three sessions: Saturday 11 May 12:00pm – 2:30pm, Saturday 18 May 12:00pm – 2:30pm, Sunday 19 May 12:00pm – 2:30pm.
