In a quest for authenticity, the brothers created their own vision of what a great champagne should be – mature, elegant and without constraint. Their desire to express the magnificent terroir of the Côte des Blancs allows them to build on winemaking family heritage and local expertise to create craft Champagne inspired by modern luxury. At Frerejean Frères, the brothers are forging a new future for Champagne.
Champagne Frerejean Frères is taking cellaring to new depths. The 2008 Cuvée des Hussards Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs has had an additional two years ageing just off the coast of Brittany, France. Submerged at 60 metres, the constant temperature, the darkness of the sea and the pressure at that depth allows for exceptional cellaring. The result is a complex wine, full of tension, elegance and minerality (click here to see video).
While the extremely limited 2008 Cuvée won’t be available in Australia, Sydneysiders have the chance to sample some of the fruits of the brothers’ labours, including the 2007 Cuvée des Hussards. On 26 August, the team from Noble Spirits will be showcasing Frerejean Frères cuvées at a special event at Beta Bar. Seats are extremely limited, with an exclusive 30 seats only, so bookings are essential.
