For one night only, wine and dine with the humble dumpling when Oriental Teahouse puts on a six-course degustation dinner for World Dumpling Day on Thursday 26 September.
Oriental Teahouse’s very own dedicated dumpling aficionados have been working around the clock to perfect the menu, which features 15 gourmet dumplings, each inspired by regions across the world.
The degustation is priced at $65 per person and includes six courses with 15 different dumplings, with creative combinations such as laksa dumpling with mushroom and prawn; braised duck leg dumpling topped with Sichuan tea-smoked duck breast and long Jing tea soup, or scallop and prawn dumpling with a traditional Cantonese XO sauce, before finishing with mini sweet dumplings.
No degustation is complete without a complementing beverage; for an additional $20 per person, guests can upgrade to include wine matches such as a glass of La Prova ‘Zanzara’ Pinot Bianco 2017 with the chilli prawn coriander shu mai, a refreshing lager with the pan-fried Australian barramundi dumpling and the Kunizakari ‘Muroka’ Umeshu with the lychee and red bean dumpling with coconut shavings and palm sugar sauce.
World Dumpling Day is observed annually on 26 September as a way of applauding the many shapes, forms and flavours of dumplings that are enjoyed by hundreds of cultures around the world.
This special event is one not to be missed, with a carefully considered and created menu for one night only.
