Australia’s ultimate creative chef brings our favourite childhood films to life again

The latest instalment of the ‘Once Upon a Time’ degustation

After making global headlines in 2019 and selling out in a matter of weeks, Chef Nelly has reimagined his theatrical ‘Once Upon a Time’ Disney-inspired menu and will be serving up his whimsical creations once again in 2020. Inspired by everyone’s favourite childhood films, the latest instalment of Robinson’s ‘Once Upon a Time’ degustation brings more of our favourite childhood films to life with his distinct creative touch.

 

'Eat Me' cookies


Starting with savoury Eat Me’ Cookies and ending with ‘Imagination’ Custard Tarts sprinkled with Fairy Dust, diners who are lucky enough to secure a reservation are in for a hit of nostalgia as they work their way through each of the eleven dishes on the menu.

 

Reimagining the controversial Bambi’s Mum dish, which came complete with dukkah served in rifle casings, Nelly is focusing on some happier moments with the dish Bambi and Thumper (main pic) – a venison carpaccio served with rabbit terrine, mushroom, sorrel and forest leaves.

 

Another highlight from the menu – and one that is already a firm favourite of the nel. Restaurant team – is the incredible Melted Snowman, coming complete with a carrot nose, black garlic bread eyes, yoghurt and ‘snow.’

 

Chef Nelly explains why he has decided to recreate this sensational menu in 2020.  “After the raging success of last year’s Once Upon a Time menu we couldn’t wait to do it all again! It was so much fun to create a whole new menu around some of my favourite films and we have carefully crafted dishes that will make diners feel like a child again, whilst enjoying it in an adult environment paired with fun cocktails and great wine to match.” 

 

Whilst Nelly wishes to keep many details of the menu under wraps (so guests can be truly surprised), we can reveal that some of the other eleven dishes in this degustation include You Shall Go To The Ball, which is a pumpkin bread served with dukkah and oil; Just Keeping Swimming, pan-fried dory served with fennel; and Roses Are Red, Beasts Are Blue, which serves up a gateau opera cake with a side of smashed rose.

 

This is a Sydney dining experience that is not to be missed!
