A Mother’s Day Breakfast tip from Matt Kemp

When it comes to Mother’s Day, there is nothing like spoiling Mum with breakfast in bed made by the little chefs in the house. Someone who knows all about the perfect breakfast dish is family man, Matt Kemp – Executive Chef at Q Station. We caught up with Matt to chat about what he will be getting up to for Mother’s Day with his family.

What do your children think makes their mum so special?

“Like so many children they don’t understand all of the amazing things that my wife does for them every day, but what I know makes them think they she is so amazing is that Christie is an amazing baker and licking the bowl and utensils after making a chocolate cake is about as good as it gets in their eyes.”

What is the family doing for Mother’s Day this year?

“This year will be a bit hectic. Although we will be celebrating Mother’s Day, we will also be hosting my son’s 6th birthday party out in a local park. And like the amazing Mother she is she will be organising that - all the food, games, piñata and everything else. No rest for Mothers!”

What’s your top tip for Mother’s Day breakfast from the kids?

“Very simple... Dad does all the cooking and the kids take all the credit! I know Christie loves a great slice of sourdough toast with smashed avocado, the perfect poached egg and slices of baby heirloom tomatoes.”
