Burger-loving vegans and meat-eaters of the north (plus everyone in between) can now rejoice!
The many nights spent on High Street in search of a late night burger are now over, as the masterminds behind D’Lish in Port Melbourne bring their highly anticipated burgers north of the Yarra to satisfy all the hunger pains.
Setting up shop next door to the Northcote Social Club, 300 Grams will be the first and only burger joint flipping patties on High Street from Westgarth to Thornbury. After trialling the menu at their current venue, the team is ready to launch into the north on Monday, 16 September.
To celebrate, they will be giving away unlimited burgers for three hours on Thursday, 19 September from 4–7pm, along with 400 cans of Remedy Kombucha.
The fit-out aims to represent the truly relaxed nature of Northcote and its locals, and has been devised in collaboration with Flinders Lane design studio, Hot Black.
“We want people to taste the joy of their childhood,” said 300 Grams founder Joe Farah. “We want that moment that they’re eating our burger to be the best five minutes of their day.” The menu features seven burgers dripping with delicious sauces made in-house, including a cheeseburger, chicken and fish burgers, and plant-based patties to be tricked up with southern fried mushrooms and vegan cheese. The signature burger and namesake, 300 Gs, will dish up a beef patty on a bun, with cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles and special ‘300 sauce’ – all weighing in at the amount from which the eatery takes its name – while there’s an option named after the ‘hood, The Norfcote, which adds egg to the equation.
All buns are vegan, as well as gluten-free options on offer, and the menu is completed by a side selection that boasts sweet potato fries for the health-conscious, southern fried chicken and ‘cauli’ bites, plus a range of soft-serve sundaes if there’s any more room in the belly. All sundaes are vegan, created from a coconut-water-based soft serve.
300 Grams isn’t your usual burger shop. With a focus on simple and classic flavours, the menu utilises premium local ingredients including free-range meats alongside fresh local vegetables, to satisfy everyone with vegan and vegetarian options. Offering indoor seating and a communal outdoor area, 300 Grams is the only place for burgers on High Street, Northcote.
